“ABP”: “They Made Millions Together — But Matt Was Never Paid?”— What Happened To The Money?”
While the Alaskan Bush People franchise brought millions of dollars to the Discovery Channel and made the Brown family household names, one member appears to have been left out entirely — and fans are furious.
In a bombshell claim, Matt Brown, the eldest son of Billy and Ami Brown, revealed that he received no pay for his appearances on the show — despite the family allegedly earning over $60,000 per episode at the peak of the series.
“I Didn’t See A Dime”
In one of his emotional Instagram videos, Matt said he worked tirelessly on the show for years, yet walked away empty-handed.
“I did over a hundred episodes and I didn’t get paid,” Matt shared. “Not a penny.”
According to Matt, the money was funneled through his parents, and he had no access to the family accounts. Meanwhile, the show’s success brought fame and fortune to the rest of the Browns, with some building new homes, cars, and even land in Washington after leaving Alaska.
Fans Feel Betrayed By The Show
The revelation sent shockwaves through the Alaskan Bush People fanbase. Many feel misled by the family’s “tight-knit” image portrayed on TV, and are now calling out the exploitation of Matt, who has battled addiction, isolation, and mental health struggles since leaving the show.
“How do you leave your own son out like that?” one viewer commented.
“This is heartbreaking. He was the heart of the show at one point.”
Will The Truth Ever Be Aired?
Discovery has yet to comment on Matt’s accusations. Meanwhile, Matt continues to rebuild his life outside of the spotlight, working on sobriety and sharing motivational content.
Still, the question lingers:
How could a family show built on survival and unity leave its eldest son out of the fortune?
Or worse — was it all scripted from the start, and Matt just didn’t play along?
