Maya Wharton was born with a congenital heart disease called Tricuspid Atresia, diagnosed when Taylor was 25 weeks pregnant. The family endured more hardship when Maya had her first open-heart surgery at just 7 months old, leading to two weeks in intensive care instead of the expected few days. Wharton updated that the surgery was a success. Additionally, he went on to talk about ânew strugglesâ as Maya is on the mend.

Teen Mom OG star Cory Wharton took to Instagram to share new updates on his daughter Mayaâs recovery. âOnly two tubes left. Hopefully, she continues to progress,â the star updated. He shared a story, which was a video of little Maya in her new hospital room. âSheâs got double-screen action going on,â he wrote in the caption, talking about the  TV system in Mayaâs new room.

Furthermore, he took to Snapchat, sharing snaps of his daughter with her mother. He expressed his gratitude towards his ex, Taylor, for her presence and care in these challenging times. The reality TV star also expressed appreciation towards fans. âThank you for all the prayersâthey were heard and answered,â he wrote on Instagram.
During Mayaâs recovery, the family will stay with her for the week, sources say. âIâll keep updating you guys, hopefully with only good news,â he told fans. Despite tough times, the former Teen Mom pair remains confident in their toddler. âSheâs a warrior, and I know sheâs got this,â he added on another post. Moreover, he informed fans that although everything is progressing steadily, the recovery phase still presents its own challenges.
