The legacy of the Korth family is in safe hands! In a triumphant update that has The Last Alaskans fans cheering, Krin Nelson has officially “secured winter” for her family by bagging a massive bull moose just days before the deep freeze set in.

The daughter of legendary frontiersman Heimo Korth proved she is a chip off the old block, taking down the 1,200-pound beast near her remote cabin. The kill comes at a critical moment, as reports from the refuge indicated that the caribou migration had been sparse this year, leaving many families worried about their meat caches.

“We Were Running Low”

“It was down to the wire,” a source close to the family revealed. “Krin and Scott were looking at a long, hungry winter if they didn’t get a big kill soon. Krin tracked this bull for three days through the brush. When she finally got the shot, she didn’t miss. She dropped him right there on the riverbank.”

The moose is estimated to provide over 500 pounds of meat—enough to feed Krin, her husband Scott, and their growing son Colby through the darkest months of the year.

A Family Effort

Photos shared with family friends reportedly show a beaming Krin posing next to the massive antlers, looking exhausted but relieved. But the work didn’t end with the shot.

“The real work started after the trigger was pulled,” the insider added. “Krin and Scott had to field dress the animal in freezing temperatures and haul the quarters back to the cabin before the wolves caught the scent. It was a grueling 24-hour mission, but now their freezer is full.”

Making Heimo Proud

Fans are calling this a “passing of the torch” moment. With Heimo and Edna getting older, Krin has stepped up as the provider, proving she has the grit to survive in one of the harshest environments on Earth.

“Heimo taught her everything she knows,” one fan commented online. “He must be so proud to see his little girl providing for her own family just like he did for decades.”

With the smokehouse full and the pantry stocked, the Nelsons can now face the -50 degree temperatures with peace of mind. The “Bush Code” remains: You kill it, you eat it, you survive.
