“A Difficult Choice”: Tori Roloff Reveals Why Josiah Is Starting Therapy Early…What happened??!
Being a parent means making tough calls, and former Little People, Big World star Tori Roloff is opening up about one of the hardest decisions she has made for her youngest son, Josiah Roloff. The 4-year-old has officially started speech and occupational therapy, a move Tori describes as “emotional but necessary” to help him navigate the challenges of achondroplasia.
In a candid update on the couple’s Raising Heights podcast, Tori revealed that while she wanted to let Josiah develop at his own pace, his mounting frustration with communication and mobility forced her to intervene earlier than she did with her older children.
“He Was Getting So Frustrated”
Tori admitted that the decision to start therapy wasn’t easy, as she struggled with the label of “special needs” intervention so early in his life. However, seeing Josiah struggle to keep up with his siblings, Jackson and Lilah, changed her mind.
“It was a difficult choice because you want to believe they will just catch up,” Tori explained. “But Josiah was getting so angry. He knows what he wants to say, and he knows where he wants to go, but his body just wasn’t cooperating. We decided we couldn’t wait anymore. We had to give him the tools to succeed, even if it meant more doctors and more appointments.”
The “Roloff” Reality
Fans of the show know that developmental delays are common for children with dwarfism. Both Jackson and Lilah underwent various therapies as toddlers, but sources say Josiah’s progress has been slightly slower, prompting the “early” intervention.
“Tori is a fierce advocate for her kids,” a source close to the family shared. “She noticed Josiah was falling behind on certain milestones, specifically with clear speech and balance. She didn’t want him to lose his confidence. Putting him in therapy now is about protecting his spirit as much as his body.”
Fan Support
The comment section on Tori’s post has been flooded with praise from other parents of children with medical needs.
“Early intervention is a game changer!” one fan wrote. “Don’t feel guilty, Tori. You are giving him a head start. Go Josiah!”
As the Roloffs continue to share their lives off-camera, fans are cheering on the youngest member of the clan as he tackles his new weekly therapy sessions.
