‘Alaskan Bush People’ “It Was Worse Than I Thought” – Bird Brown Breaks Down Over Health Crisis
Bird Brown of Alaskan Bush People is facing a heartbreaking medical decision and the high likelihood of a future cancer diagnosis. But what kind of cancer does Snowbird Brown face on the Discovery Channel series? Here’s the latest.
What Type of Cancer Does Bird Brown Have on Alaskan Bush People?
The first important piece of info to know is that so far, Snowbird Brown’s cancer diagnosis isn’t a certainty. She had two large tumors weighing eight and four pounds. They took them out and biopsied the tissue to give her a diagnosis.
On the initial episode of Alaskan Bush People, Bird offered a little info. But later in the week, there was expanded footage with more details about Snowbird’s condition, recovery, and what lies ahead. The news isn’t great and Rain Brown was there for it all.

So, Bird Brown told her mom, Ami Brown that the doctors told her she’s got an 80% chance of the tumors coming back. And a 50% chance that when they do, they’ll be cancerous. Aside from that, she had news that was “life-changing”. (The doctor gave slightly different percentages).
But one thing they didn’t reveal was what type of cancer it is. However, we have a theory on Bird Brown’s cancer typing simply because of additional procedures they revealed on Alaskan Bush People were done while the tumors were removed. More on that below.
Snowbird Brown’s Heartbreaking Choice – Cancer or Kids?
At age 27, Bird’s contemplating some choices that will affect the rest of her life. Namely, does she want children or not? She’s got no man in her life, nor is she dating. But it seems time’s running out for her to have a kid the old-fashioned way.
Otherwise, Snowbird will need to harvest and freeze her eggs because the doctors recommend a total hysterectomy to avoid regrowth of tumors and this very serious cancer risk. Ami tries to comfort Bird and says it’ll be okay.
But her daughter says, “It’s not really okay.” Bird says there aren’t good options. The Alaskan Bush People daughter said there’s a hormone treatment “that may or may not work”. Or a hysterectomy.
She’s not dating anyone and says “who wants to walk into that”? Plus, Bird’s also upset that their Alaska trip was postponed for her surgery. In the next episode, she’s determined to go, but does several things that are bad for her recovery.
Bird at Risk for Ovarian Cancer on Alaskan Bush People?
In addition to taking out the two tumors, Rain Brown reveals they took her sister’s appendix and abdominal wall. So, this is more than just going in for a biopsy and tumor removal. And those two surgeries together point to ovarian cancer risk.
First, the Alaskan Bush People had tumors on Bird’s ovaries. That’s the first red flag for this type of cancer. Second, removing the appendix and wall of the abdominal area is something that’s often done with ovarian cancer.

Because of the size of her tumors, taking out this extra tissue can leave clear margins. It allows doctors to resect as much of the tumor as they can and any tissue at risk. If there are tumors in surrounding tissue, the procedure’s called “debulking”.
The doctor came in and told her it’s, “not definitively cancer” and it could come back as a borderline tumor, cancer, or both. Our theory based on her surgical procedures, risk, and symptoms is it could be ovarian cancer risk which is nothing to take lightly…
Before Bird Brown recovered she packs to head to Alaska. Snowbird wants to use this tip to figure out if she wants kids ever — to get clarity.
