Jessa Duggar & Ben Seewald Welcome Baby No. 6: Gender Surprise And A Name With A Special Meaning Revealed!

The 19 Kids and Counting alum and husband Ben Seewald welcomed their sixth baby on Aug. 2 after seven-and-a-half hours of labor.
“When baby was born and everything was OK, I just sobbed,” I just cried,” Jessa shared in an Aug. 4 YouTube video without revealing the name or sex of her newborn. “The baby’s crying, I’m crying. It was such a beautiful moment and we’re so thankful.”
Now a family of eight, the baby joins older kids Spurgeon, 9, Henry, 8, Ivy, 5, Fern, 3, and George, 1.

The couple first announced their pregnancy in a March Instagram post featuring sonograms of their little one, with Jessa captioning the post, “Halfway to holding you in our arms!”
And as Jessa—the fifth eldest of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar’s 19 kids—has shared much of her journey with fans, including her teenage years and 2014 wedding to Ben, she’s also been candid about their difficulties the couple has faced in expanding their family.
In 2022, two years after sharing that she experienced a pregnancy loss, she opened up about learning another pregnancy wasn’t viable.
“Nothing could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment,” the reality TV star shared in a Feb. 2023 YouTube video. “At that moment I was just in complete shock. I didn’t have words. I just immediately started crying.”
Coming from a large family, her and Ben didn’t give up on their hopes to grow their family.
“God has blessed us with a rainbow baby,” the 32-year-old said in a September 2023 YouTube video announcing her pregnancy with George. “We’re so thankful for the gift of this precious life.”
Adding on Instagram the following month, she wrote, “Every heartbeat heard, every ultrasound seen, every appointment with a good report… the worries fade a bit more. God has blessed us beyond measure.”
And as Jessa and Ben welcomed their sixth baby—Jim Bob and Michelle’s 37th grandchild—the extended Duggar family continues to grow, with her brother Jedidiah Duggar and his wife Katey Duggar welcoming their twin baby girls in January.
Indeed, Jim Bob and Michelle are now grandparents of 37.
Meanwhile, Jeremiah Duggar and wife Hannah Duggar are expecting their third baby later this year. Jinger Duggar Vuolo is also expecting baby No. 3 with husband Jeremy Vuolo.
And as the Duggar family tree expands, it’s hard to keep track up with who is who—especially for the younger members.
